Puppies under the age of one year old are required to receive their first shots. For all dogs over the age of one year we only require that the Rabies shot to be up to date as required by Virginia law. We also require the evidence of Distemper and Parvo-Virus immunity. Copies of vaccinations from the veterinarian must be provided OR results from a titer test completed by your vet within the last 3 months is also acceptable. The canine cough vaccine (Bordetella) is also required. The Bordetella vaccine has proven to help lesson the symptoms of Canine cough but it does not guarantee protection from it. All vaccines must be administered 2 weeks prior to arrival at facility.

Spaying and neutering is not required. We recognize the importance of spaying/neutering and while we encourage owners to alter their pets, we realize there are instance where spay/neuter surgery is not a viable option or the owner chooses not to. An in-house evaluation can be performed to assess your dogs temperament however, if he/she passes but then shows signs of aggression or dominance at a later date, he/she may not be able to participate in group playtime. Females in heat will not be allowed under any circumstances. This is strictly for the safety of all Port Rover dogs.
Evaluation is only required for dogs that wish to participate in Group Play. Evaluation cost is $20.00 per dog and is refunded upon completion of 5 days of daycare or boarding. Vaccination records are required for initial evaluation. Evaluation takes approximately 2-4 hours. Please call ahead to schedule and appointment for the evaluation.
Our staff will allow your dog time to acclimate and calm before proceeding with each step of the evaluation. Dog will be supervised at all times.
If dog fails the evaluation, he/she will still be able to board with Port Rover but will receive their own kennel and will not be able to participate in daycare or group activities. If during your dogs stay, he/she begins to acclimate and shows positive signs of adjustment, he/she may be reevaluated with owners permission at no additional charge.
Port Rover, LLC reserves the right to immediately reject any dog with a known bite history or shows signs of extreme aggressive behavior towards other dogs or people.
** During low-attendance evenings/nights, Port Rover may opt to close the facility for a period of 5-6 hours to allow our staff to spend time with their family. All boarding guests will be safely kenneled during this time
